A brightly-colored Mexican handcrafted sculpture usually made from papier-mâché or wood depicting a fantastical animal.

Coined by Mexican artist Pedro Linares, who created the art form; he explained that, in the dream that inspired him to make the sculptures, the fantastical animals he saw were shouting the plural ¡alebrijes! repeatedly.
