From Paleo-Hispanic, possibly Celtic, from Proto-Celtic *brīnikā, a derivative of *brinos (“fiber, filament”), further suggested to be from Proto-Indo-European *bʰrugʰ-no- (“twig”), perhaps related to the root of English brush, but the phonetics are dubious.
