Catalanness (identification with Catalan values and customs)
“Y fue ayer, en abril de 1976, cuando Jordi Pujol, con ocasión de su primer viaje a Madrid como líder de Convergència Democràtica, dejó en un discurso pronunciado en el Ateneo una nueva y diferente versión de aquella doble pertenencia: “Queremos, ante todo, ser catalanes, y queremos de parte entera, desde nuestra catalanidad, ser españoles”.” — And it seems it was yesterday, in April 1976, when Jordi Pujol, on the occasion of his first travel to Madrid as the leader of Convergència Democràtica, gave, during a speech held in the athenaeum, a new and different version of that double membership: “Before anything else, we want to be Catalan, and by this Catalanness of ours, to be fully Spanish”.
