verb/konfoɾˈtaɾ/
to comfort, console
Related: confortable, confortamiento, confortante, confortativo, reconfortar
Inherited from Latin cōnfortāre. In Old Spanish, its rhizotonic conjugations showed the expected diphthongization (cf. confuerto), but this was later leveled to /o/ by analogy with arrhizotonic forms. Despite the resemblance, not a doublet of conhortar.
