acurcucharse

A regional variant (heard in parts of Colombia and Venezuela) of acurrucarse, meaning to curl up or huddle for warmth or comfort. Most Spanish speakers will only recognize the standard form, acurrucarse.

• El niño se acurcuchó bajo la manta. — The child curled up under the blanket.
• Nos acurcuchamos junto al fuego. — We huddled together by the fire.
• El gato se acurcucha en el sofá todas las tardes. — The cat curls up on the couch every afternoon.

Using acurcucharse outside its narrow regional range and expecting it to be understood — acurrucarse is the form virtually every Spanish speaker actually knows.
