alcahuetear

In much of Latin America, a colloquial verb for indulging or covering for someone's misbehavior — spoiling a child, or helping a friend hide something from a parent or partner. Historically, and still in some legal or literary contexts, it carried the older, harsher sense of procuring for illicit sexual encounters — the noun alcahuete/a (procurer) is where the negative charge comes from.

• La abuela siempre le alcahuetea todo a su nieto. — The grandmother always indulges her grandson in everything.
• No le alcahuetees las mentiras a tu hermano. — Don't cover for your brother's lies.
• Sus amigos le alcahuetearon la escapada nocturna. — His friends covered for his late-night escape.

Missing the negative, enabling connotation — alcahuetear isn't neutral 'helping,' it implies covering up or indulging behavior that shouldn't really be encouraged.
