aquerenciarse

Originally a ranching and bullfighting term for an animal becoming attached to a particular spot (its querencia) that it returns to and defends — extended in general use to people becoming fond of and settled into a place, a habit, or a way of life.

• El toro se aquerenció en un rincón de la plaza. — The bull became attached to one corner of the ring.
• Nos aquerenciamos en ese pueblo y ya no queremos irnos. — We grew attached to that town and don't want to leave anymore.
• El gato se aquerenció en la cocina, siempre duerme ahí. — The cat has taken to the kitchen, it always sleeps there.

Treating aquerenciarse as a plain synonym for enamorarse (to fall in love with a person) — its core sense is attachment to a place or routine, not romantic love, even though some dictionaries note a secondary, looser "falling for someone" use.
