escabullirse

to sneak out, slip away, slip out; to squirm (to evade a question, an interviewer etc)

Usage

To slip away or sneak off, to escape unnoticed. Irregular like bullir: the i drops after ll (escabulló, escabullera). Always reflexive.

Examples
  • Se escabulló por la puerta trasera. — He slipped out the back door.
  • Los niños se escabullen de la clase. — The children sneak out of class.
