Essonne

Essonne (a department of Île-de-France, France); Essonne (a left tributary of the Seine, in northern France, flowing through the departments of Loiret, Seine-et-Marne and Essonne)

Named after the river, from the Gallo-Roman water goddess, Gaulish and Latin Acionna, Acionnae, of Celtic origin, probably sharing the same Proto-Indo-European source as the river Axona.
