Figue Baudin

Literally, “Baudin Banana”. Borrowed from Haitian Creole fig (“banana”), itself from French figue (“fig”—figs in Haiti are called fig frans, literally “French banana” or originally “fig of France”), and named after Nicolas Baudin, a 19th-century French naturalist and explorer who collected those bananas in a voyage to Southeast Asia and grew them at a Martinican botanical garden.
