proper noun/ɡʁa.na.da/
a neighbourhood and former municipality of Rouyn-Noranda Regional County Municipality, Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Quebec, Canada
The name refers to the mining company Granada Gold Mines, which operated a gold mine in the territory of the neighbourhood between 1930 and 1937. The company was named in turn after Grenada in Andalusia in an effort to give the company name an exotic bent.
