Sacaraucae (an ancient Saka/Scythian tribe from Central Asia, known to have migrated into Bactria and later into Gandhara)
From Latin Sacaraucae, from Ancient Greek Σακαραῦκαι (Sakaraûkai). See there for more. The form Sacaraules (“Sacarauli”) derives from Σακάραυλοι (Sakárauloi), a name that appears only in Strabo's Geographica. It is generally considered to have originated as a scribal corruption of the original phrase Σακαραῦκαι καὶ Αὐγαλοί (Sakaraûkai kaì Augaloí, “Sacaraucae and Augali”).
