An archaic form of aborrecer (to abhor, detest) found in older and medieval Spanish texts — modern Spanish uses aborrecer exclusively for this meaning.

• El cronista escribió que aborrió profundamente al traidor. — The chronicler wrote that he deeply abhorred the traitor.
• En el poema medieval, el héroe aborrió la deshonra. — In the medieval poem, the hero abhorred dishonor.
• Los textos antiguos usan aborrir donde hoy diríamos aborrecer. — Old texts use aborrir where today we'd say aborrecer.

This form is obsolete — a learner should recognize it when reading older texts but always use aborrecer in modern writing and speech.
