The single most versatile — and most taboo — verb in Mexican Spanish, shifting meaning entirely with context and grammatical construction: to bother/annoy (deja de chingar), to break/ruin (se chingó el carro), to steal (le chingaron la cartera), to have sex (vulgar), or, reflexively, to fail badly (me chingué en el examen). Extremely common in everyday speech but consistently vulgar — not used in formal or polite contexts.
Using chingar in any formal, professional, or mixed-company context — it is genuinely vulgar (not just "informal"), roughly on par with English's f-word family, and reads as shocking or inappropriate outside casual peer speech.
